Pain is a negative emotional experience that varies from person to person, often giving us awareness of an imbalance, injury or disease. Chemical and electrical messengers within the nervous system use pain and other symptoms to alert us that there is a problem within the body. Getting hurt from an obvious injury is easier to explain the pain process, but what if can’t explain it? You go searching for answers.

How can Dr. Tom help? You need a health professional you can trust to tell you exactly what to do for pain relief. Dr. Tom will evaluate you in person to determine what approach makes the most sense. Everyone has different reasons for having pain and your perception of where the pain is coming from or what influences your pain may not be entirely accurate. This is where Dr. Tom is able to identify pain pattern and isolate areas of impairment that link to your symptoms.

My PT is here to help you figure out what makes the most sense for your current state of healing. Pain relief options are plentiful and knowing what to focus on makes all the difference. During an evaluation, Dr. Tom makes recommendations for what you can do for yourself and what he can do for you. On the first visit he will test some pain relief techniques to get a sense of what your plan could look like. Most clients leave a session at My PT feeling better than when they came in. Healing doesn’t happen all at once, usually. So realistically, you get “boosts” of healing when you return for treatment until your body returns to balance.

Since we don’t know what condition you’re in when reading this, please self-assess how bad your situation is to determine what level of care you need. If you think it’s life threatening, then go to the Emergency Department. If you think there’s a broken bone, open wound, significant damage, bleeding, then go to Urgent Care. If you’re not sure, call you primary care provider for advice. If you think you have a problem related to your muscles, joints, nerves, body movement, posture, strength or flexibility, then a Custom Physical Therapy evaluation and treatment may be helpful.
