Virtual Custom Physical Therapy is a way for clients to receive Physical Therapy care with the convenience of staying at home. My PT is able to perform evaluations for new clients and provide treatment that is specific to each person’s needs. In a world right now where staying at home is safer, the technology today enables us to still provide meaningful care with proven success.

How does Virtual Custom Physical Therapy work?

We will send you a link to a private HIPAA compliant online portal. You will need a computer with a camera and a good internet connection. Once connected we should see each other on the screen. If needed, we will call you on your mobile device so we can clearly communicate using the speakerphone function.

What do I need to make it work?

  • A good internet connection
  • A computer with a camera and microphone
  • Table could also work
  • Cell phone will be helpful as a backup communication device
  • Be indoors with a table or counter to put the computer/tablet, a chair to sit facing the camera and monitor
  • Have about 8-10 feet behind you to move around

How is a Virtual session different from regular PT session?

For starters, using technology to communicate will be crucial to connect. Most of us these days own a computer or electronic device with video chat capabilities. Another area that is different will be part of our clinical testing. We may not be right next to you to perform our special tests, but we can modify. Most specialty PT’s pride themselves as being out-of-the-box thinkers, Dr. Tom learns how to adapt.

The next area that won’t be the same are all the hands-on techniques and awesome therapy gadgets. So we will focus just on what you can do for yourself. There is quite a bit of healing power with exercise and we prescribe you what makes the most sense for you right now. Finally, we will email you a list of recommended exercise equipment or supplies that we believe to speed your recovery and support healing.

How is Virtual like the real thing?

We are still able to conduct evaluations. The cornerstone of making a diagnosis is the initial interview. What we learn from your history leads the PT asking more detailed questions. Another important part of the providing Customized care is from observing posture and movement.

My PT treats pain and trains movement. Our goal is to teach you how to heal better so you can live better. So, we will discuss any of your movement concerns, symptoms, diagnosis or injury that you are experiencing. Most importantly, we want to know your goals.

What do I need to do for paperwork?

We have a 3 page document for you to review and sign. It’s easy to sign ahead of time using a free pdf reader.

How much does it cost?

Virtual Custom Physical Therapy is valued to individuals at $100 per hour. Gold and Silver Plan options are available. We ask for payment upfront through Square invoicing which will will email or text to you.

For AUTO insurance cases we will bill customary and standard rates to your AUTO insurance carrier. We must verify with the insurance company they are reimbursing on your open claim before we begin.

Why is it better than doing exercises alone at home?

You are prescribed exercises that are specific to your body’s needs and we explain why. After instruction, you will practice the movements so we can observe. That is when we can provide feedback to encourage or adjust your movements. Going forward from there we discuss a plan that includes goals. What do you want to accomplish? We help create short term goals that make sense to your primary goal so we know when you are being successful.

  1. Evaluation
  2. Education
  3. Instruction
  4. Feedback
  5. Progression
  6. Planning
  7. Goals
  8. Success

Who does it help?

My PT can help residents of MA, CT, and NH who have been recently injured and now living with pain or movement problems. Most people are avoiding doctors and health facilities because of the risk of being infected or becoming a carrier of the Virus. We are here to tell you that you can still be evaluated and treated, from a safe distance. My PT can be your muscle and joint care provider.

Acute injuries present new problems likes symptoms and fear of movement. Most of the information to improve a new injury is by learning the right way to manage the symptoms from the start. For example, Virtual Custom Physical Therapy is an excellent option if you were recently injured in a car accident.

What if I don’t have the right exercise equipment at home?

My PT will explain what exercise equipment or supplies are needed to help speed your recovery and support healing. We will email a list of recommendations after the session. There will be links you can click to view and purchase.
